Copycat Flaming Turtle Chocolate Fondue

by | Sep 14, 2015 | Desserts

We recently went to the Melting Pot with some family and while I LOVE fondue, especially chocolate fondue, I don’t love the price of it when you eat out.  When we got home I was thinking about how easy it should be to replicate the flavors, so here we are!  I bought my fondue pot off of Amazon for about $20 and it was a great purchase. Now we can have fondue quickly and easily whenever the fancy strikes.

This recipe is my attempt at a copycat of the Flaming Turtle Chocolate Fondue at the Melting Pot.  Confession:  I don’t do flaming anything. I don’t even use real alcohol in this recipe… I just use rum or brandy extract, whatever I have on hand and it tastes delicious.  You could even just use vanilla in a pinch.  This is a fun recipe for date night at home!  Does it get any easier than this?

Some of our favorite things to dip:  Pretzels, bananas, strawberries, raspberries, pound cake, marshmallows, angel food cake, brownie bites, cheesecake bites.

Ingredients:

  • 12oz chocolate chips (I prefer semi-sweet, but you can use milk chocolate too.)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp rum or brandy extract
  • 1/2 cup warm caramel ice-cream topping
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans

 Instructions:

  1. Melt chocolate chips and heavy cream in double boiler or in the microwave in a glass bowl (or other microwave safe) in 30 second intervals. (Heat, stir, heat, stir, until it is melted.)
  2. Pour chocolate mixture in to the fondue pot, mix in the extract, swirl in the warm caramel ice-cream topping, sprinkle on the nuts, and get to dipping.  Does it get easier than this?
