Welcome to My Kitchen!

I’m Petra—a wife, mom, self-taught cook and baker, and food lover—and I’m so happy you’re here! Here in my kitchen, I’m sharing quick, easy homemade recipes that will hopefully make you fall in love with cooking all over again.

They say cooks cook to nurture, and I couldn’t agree more. I love gathering around the table or in the kitchen with family and friends to share a good meal or a favorite treat. There’s something therapeutic about the smell of freshly baked bread, the scent of simmering beef bourguignon, or the aroma of roasting potatoes. Good food has a way of bringing us together and helping us create memories that last.

Why Donuts2Crumpets?

I was born across the sea in England, married on the East Coast in Maryland, and now call Utah home. I’m a self-taught cook and baker, and my recipes are inspired by both my English roots and my American life. You’ll find a fun mix of everything from donuts to crumpets—a little taste of both sides of my story.

I have a passion for creating yummy food and love helping people feel more confident in the kitchen. My goal is to share quick, easy, incredibly delicious recipes that anyone can make, whether you’re an experienced cook or just getting started.

This recipe blog began as a journal of our family’s food adventures. I originally started it so my kids would have all of our favorite recipes to make for their own families someday. What started as a hobby has grown into a collection of the recipes we love most, and I still think of this site as my little corner of the kitchen where I get to share what I’m cooking with you.

I don’t post every day—I only share a few recipes each month—because I want the recipes here to be ones I genuinely love and have tested in my own kitchen. So come join me, pull up a chair, and let’s start cooking together!

The Taste Testers!

I’ve been married to my sweet hubby and best friend, Mike, for 34 years, and together we have two grown kids, Dee and Mike Jr. Our family has grown over the years, and our grandson Zander is now part of the fun, too. And, of course, there’s Miles, our sweet little fur baby who is always happy to hang out in the kitchen with us.

Life is busy, and like many of you, I don’t always have hours to spend in the kitchen. That’s one of the reasons I love creating recipes that are approachable, practical, and worth making again and again.

I’m also living with multiple sclerosis, which has taught me to appreciate slowing down, making the most of my energy, and finding joy in the everyday moments. Cooking and baking continue to be one of the ways I connect with the people I love—and there’s nothing quite like sharing something homemade around the table.

Thanks for stopping by Donuts2Crumpets. I hope you’ll find a recipe that becomes a favorite in your home, too!
