If you are looking for a fun Spring or Easter activity for the kids, you are going to love these easy Spring Pretzel & Cookie Treats. Whether you use pretzels, cookies, or crackers, using frosting makes these fun little morsels simple for children and adults to put together. Just set up a small table with lots of fun toppings to let them create to their hearts content!
These treats do not take a lot of prep. Grab some pretzels, Oreo or shortbread cookies or even Ritz crackers for the base, make some colored coconut in separate bowls, set out some store bought frosting and plastic knives or spoons, and then add bowls of candy, sprinkles and marshmallows to the table. Best part of this activity? They get to eat what they make!
A couple of tips for this recipe:
- The more colors you have on the table, the more festive and fun this will be. Who doesn’t have a store of sprinkles in the house? If you don’t, I love these sets.
- To make the colored coconut, just place some sweetened coconut in a bowl, add a few drops of food coloring, (the gel drops are my fav), and stir and mash around with a fork until well combined! You can make any color you like!
- Store bought frosting is perfect for this activity. Spread the cookie or pretzel with frosting then press it in to the colored coconut for cute results!
- Add sprinkles, marshmallows, and other candies to the table to let the kids create their own designs! Easter colored M&M’s for flowers and nests, Reese’s Pieces for the chicks noses, sugar pearls for the small flowers, and you always need edible eyes for fun. Be creative!
