Preheat the oven to 350. Spray a 9″ cake pan lightly with non-stick spray. Line the bottom with parchment paper, (or spray with the Bakers Joy non stick spray that contains flour.)
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar.
Whisk in the eggs, one at a time.
Whisk in the almond extract, then whisk in the all purpose flour.
Pour the batter in to the prepared cake pan and sprinkle the sliced almonds over the top.
Bake for 30 minutes at 350. Let cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan. (I run a very thin knife around the edge, flip on to one platter, then flip back on to another.)
Let the cake cool, then sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving!
