Homemade Taco Seasoning (Better Than Store‑Bought)
A quick homemade taco seasoning made with pantry spices. Bold, smoky, and perfect for tacos, soups, and weeknight meals. Ready in 5 minutes.
- 3 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 Tbsp cumin
- 1 Tbsp salt
- 1 Tbsp black pepper coarse ground
- 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
Tips for the BEST Homemade Taco Seasoning:
- Use coarse black pepper for the best texture and flavor.
- Smoked paprika adds depth — don't skip it!
- For a spicier blend, increase the crushed red pepper flakes.
- Shake the jar well before each use to redistribute the spices.
- Store in an airtight jar in a cool, dark place for maximum freshness.
- Use 2-3 Tbsp of this seasoning per pound of ground beef, depending on how bold you want the flavor!
- I double the recipe and it fits beautifully in a 12oz mason jar.
