Ingredients

  • 2 tsp ground sage
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 cup water
  • 3-5 pounds boneless pork loin

Glaze

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

Instructions

  • Mix together the sage, salt, pepper and garlic, and rub all over the pork.
  • Place the water in the slow cooker, and place the pork on top. Cook on low for 7-9 hours.
  • Just over an hour before the pork is finished cooking, make the glaze by mixing together the brown sugar, cornstarch, balsamic vinegar, water and soy sauce in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat and stir until mixture thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Put aside half of the glaze in a bowl for serving and use the remaining glaze to brush over the pork a few times during the last hour of cooking.
  • Optional: For a more caramelized crust like I have pictured here, remove the pork from the slow cooker once the hour is up and place on a foil lined baking pan. Top with more glaze, and set under high broiler for 1 to 2 minutes, until bubbly and caramelized.)
  • Serve the pork with remaining glaze on the side.
